North Ridgeville school bus in minor crash

NORTH RIDGEVILLE – No children were injured from what was described as a minor collision between a school bus and a car this afternoon on Jaycox Road.

The accident occurred on Jaycox Road about 3:30 p.m. and involved a bus with students from Wilcox Elementary School and a private vehicle, according to Superintendent James Powell.

“It was a minor accident and no one was hurt or had to be treated,” Powell said.

Powell had no specific details of the mishap, but he said the bus had left Wilcox Elementary on Bainbridge Road and was enroute to Liberty Elementary School on Jaycox Road to pick up more students when the crash occurred.

“I don’t have the exact location of the accident but it had to have occurred shortly after the bus left Wilcox,” Powell said.

Powell added that the accident “wasn’t the driver’s fault.”

Powell did say there was “a little damage to the bus and some damage to the car.”

The number of children on the bus wasn’t immediately known, but parents were being notified about the incident, Powell said.

Police had no information to release as of 3:40 p.m., according to a dispatcher.
