Belva M. Starkey, RN (nee Henderson), 60, died at 1 A.M., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at EMH Healthcare in Avon, after a six month battle of Coronary Artery Disease.
Belva retired as a lifelong caregiver. She was employed at the Grafton Correctional Institute, Lorain Correctional Institute, Mercy Regional Medical Center, and Anchor Lodge Nursing Home. Belva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and organ donor. She enjoyed reading and crafting with her grandchildren. She was a member of the family at First Baptist Church in Sheffield Lake and was involved as a Sunday School nursery worker and the Missions Food Pantry.
Mrs. Starkey is survived by her husband, David, retired from STACI in LaGrange; daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Hicks; and two grandchildren, Grace and Alex, who were the jewels in her crown; sisters, Barbara Lucas of Windber, Pennsylvania, Wanda Gordon of Bouse, Arizona, and Susan Betz of Waltertown, North Carolina; uncle, John Webb of Somerset, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond and mother, Cora (nee Webb) Henderson; sisters, Becky Penrose and Kate Miller; brothers, Tim and Pat Henderson.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second St., Elyria. Funeral service will be 11 A.M., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the funeral home. Reverand Kiel Nunn, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Sheffield Lake, will officiate. Interment will be in Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
