Pearl Harbor ceremony in Vermilion today

VERMILION — The Vermilion Veterans Council will remember Pearl Harbor on the 72nd anniversary of that fateful day.

Today, veterans in the area will meet at 10 a.m. at AMVETS Post 22 on state Route 60 for coffee and doughnuts. At 11 a.m., veterans and anyone who wants to remember Pearl Harbor will meet again at the boat docks on South Street where John Vargo, Veterans Council resident, will address the crowd about the Light Cruiser USS Phoenix.

After the speech, AMVETS Post 22 Vice President Cindy Rice will throw a wreath into the Vermilion River to remember victims of Pearl Harbor and a poem will be recited.
Everyone is welcome to join the event.
