Hetzel D. “Tex” See, 80, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born April 3, 1933 in Hardy County, West Virginia. Tex had made his home in Vermilion since 1975.
He proudly served in the United States Army. Tex was employed in the cushion department at Lorain Ford Plant for 30 years before retiring. In his younger years he was employed at the B&O railroad. He was a member of the U.S. Army Color Guard and a member of the U.A.W. #425. Tex was a skilled builder and built his own home, he was known to be able to fix anything. His hobbies included gardening, bowling, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Georgia See (nee Rowe); his sons, Hetzel D. See, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Loudonville; James A. See and his wife Joanne of Vermilion, Michael E. See of Castalia; daughters, Vivian G. Feeley of Louisville, Kentucky, Karen Townsend and her husband Dallas of Vermilion, Debra L. See of Pandora, Ohio, Diana C. St. Clair and her husband Brian of Louisville Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; his sisters, Julia Wetzel and her husband Christopher of Mathias, West Virginia; Pauline Robinson of Capon Bridge, West Virginia; Dessie Minor of Woodbridge, Virginia and Janet Bare of Mathias, West Virginia; his brothers, Elwood See of Yellow Springs, West Virginia, James See and his wife Shirley of Highview, West Virginia and Wayne See of Morehead City, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jade Townsend; his brothers, Vernon, Virgil and Elmer See; his sisters, Ethel and Velma See; and his parents, Arthur Andrew and Rebecca Adeline See.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 10, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 11 at 11 A.M. at Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Road, Elyria. The Rev. Hetzel D. See, Jr. the son and Rev. Kermit Rowe his cousin will co-officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
