Josephine “Josie” Williams, 84, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 6, 2013 at EMH Healthcare, following a short illness. She was born in Sumter, Alabama, moving to Elyria 60 years ago from Whitfield, Alabama.
Mrs. Williams was employed in the housekeeping dept. at Elyria Memorial Hospital and host of a hotel in Lorain County. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Jimmy) Utsey of Elyria, Doris (Richard) Holt of Lorain, Patricia Oliver of Columbus, Nancy Lee-Burris Williams of Lorain; sons, Willie Lee Williams, Jr. of Lorain, Dale (Debbra) Williams, Jr. of Lorain; 21 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Jackson of Avon, Mary Mcvey of Oberlin; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Williams, Sr.; sons, James Howard, Johnny Williams; daughter, Cynthia Williams-Stephenson; parents, Roosevelt and Cora Howard; and a sister, Martha Knight.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, 127 West Bridge Street, Elyria, from 11 A.M. until time of service at 1 P.M. Pastor Dempsey Nobel of Second New Hope B.C., Lorain, will officiate.
