OBERLIN – A second-year Oberlin College student competed on “Jeopardy!,” and the show in which he appeared will air at 7:30 tonight on WOIO-TV (CBS), Channel 19.

A lifelong fan of the quiz show, Sam Bernhard survived a grueling selection process with 200,000 potential contestants, according to an Oberlin College news release.

Bernhard, of Blacksburg, Va., recently helped the men’s soccer team land its first NCAA Tournament invitation.

Bernhard isn’t the first Oberlin College student to appear on the program. The list of former Oberlin College competitors include Joe Clonick, 1957; Kim B. Hasse, 1971; Deb Taub, 1978; Deborah Peters, 1973; Barbara Diamond, 1990; Katie O’Reilly 2008; and Kendra Pettis, 2010.

Kathy Cacace, 2004, will be on the show scheduled to air Jan. 28.
