Suspect sought in Lorain carjacking

LORAIN — Police are seeking a suspect who pointed a gun at a Lorain man and stole his car from a Kwik Mart parking lot Monday.

About 6:30 p.m., Lamar Sitton, 53, parked his car at Kwik Mart, 3155 Pearl Ave., and was walking into the store when an unknown man wearing a black San Francisco 49ers stocking hat walked around the side of the store and pointed a silver revolver at him, according to a police report.

Sitton told police the man was Hispanic and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black coat. Without saying anything, the man got into the car and drove south on Pearl Avenue, according to the report.

Sitton told police he tried to run after the car but wasn’t able to catch it and instead walked back to the Kwik Mart to call police.

Police found the car abandoned by the side of the road near East 42nd Street and Pearl Avenue shortly after the incident.

The suspect was at large, according to the report.
