ELYRIA — A woman said she was robbed at gunpoint near the intersection of Middle Avenue and Fourth Street around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday.
The woman said she was driving south on Middle Avenue with her 17-year-old son, according to police Officer Michael Mullins’ report. The woman said her son had her stop to say hello to a young man walking on Middle Avenue who he thought was a friend from high school.
The woman said when her son unlocked the car doors, two men wearing black-hooded sweatshirts and gray camouflage pants got into the back seat and one pointed a gun at her head. The men stole her purse containing $200, her phone and her son’s phone. The woman said the men got out of the car and when she followed them they ran behind a house on Ninth Street, where she lost them.
