Elyria blotter: Man allegedly steals cart full of items from Wal-Mart

9:10 p.m. Dec. 9 — 1000 Chestnut Commons, a man was seen placing items into a cart in Wal-Mart and then going through the checkout line to buy wrapping paper. When the cashier asked about the other items, the man said he had a receipt but didn’t provide it. He then pushed the cart out of the store without paying for the cart full of items.

Saturday, Dec. 7

  • 1 a.m. —100 block Valley Forge Circle, someone told police that a person stole the license plates off their car. The license plate number is EDG 7199.
  • 3 p.m. — 1000 Chestnut Commons, a woman told police she left her purse in a shopping cart in Wal-Mart. She said she came to retrieve it, but it was missing and no one had turned it in. The purse is black and there’s a pink wallet inside. The woman canceled her credit cards.

Wednesday, Dec. 11

  • 3 a.m. — 200 block Woodford Ave., a man said he tried to pay for something at Convenient and was told he had a counterfeit $20 bill.
  • 7:40 a.m. — 1500 block Prospect St., an apartment complex resident said the top of his convertible was slashed, but nothing was stolen from his car.
  • 3:49 p.m. — Elyria Hyundai, 845 Leona St., a 2004 Ford F-250 was reported stolen from the lot.
