Surrounded by his loving wife and family, Clyde Willis Gibson, Sr., 59 years of age and a resident of Wakeman, passed into his eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior at New Life Hospice Residence center on Friday, December 13, 2013. Clyde was born in Scott County, Tennessee Wakemen has been his home for the last 19 years. Clyde was a long-time and faithful member of Old Fashion Grace Baptist Church in South Amherst, serving as a trustee and grounds keeper for many years. He retired from Stein Inc. after 37 years of service as a loader/operator. He was a member of the Local Union #18 for 37 years as well. He loved hunting, four wheeling, fishing, camping, and yard selling. Clyde loved and adored spending time with his precious grandchildren.
Clyde Willis Gibson, Sr., was preceded in death by his father and mother, Johnnie Homer Gibson and Elzira Mae Gibson (nee Bowling); his brother, Verlon Junior Gibson; and his mother-in-law, Mable Strader.
Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sinda L. Gibson (nee Strader); his daughter, Vicki Gibson and fiancé Edward Wright; his son, Clyde Gibson, Jr.; grandchildren, Seth Gibson, Jordain Gibson, and Holly Wright; his sister, Betty Lloyd of Helenwood, Tennessee; and his brothers and their wives, Harold and Debbie Gibson of Wakeman and Fred and Dorothy Gibson of Vermilion.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst with funeral service to follow at 1 P.M. The Rev. Farrell Keith, pastor of Grace Baptist Church of South Amherst will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Ohio.
