Odessia was a resident of Cleveland, for more than 60 years and held membership at Second Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cleveland where she served in the choir and on the Usher Board. In 1960, she married Napoleon Grant who departed this life in 2005. Not long after his passing, she moved to Elyria, with family. She attended Bethel Logos Christian Fellowship Center in Oberlin, and was active on the Usher Board and Mother’s Board. Odessia was also proficient at several occupations that included being a laundress, housekeeper, home health aide and a sales clerk.
She is survived by a sister, Marie “Rickie” Evans of Duncanville, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews; “adopted children”; and two loving church families.
Public viewing will be held from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. Monday, December 16, 2013 at Thomas G. Smith Funeral Home, 14601 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 17 with the family receiving friends at 11 A.M.
