‘Snowflake Ball’ benefits woman battling cancer

Karlie Plasarrived via firetruck with an escort from the Carlisle Township firefighters to her benefit. KRISTIN BAUER/CHRONICLE

Karlie Plas, 20, was diagnosed at age 13 with a malignant form of childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. A “Snowflake Ball” was held Saturday at Ruby’s Hall and Banquet Center in Grafton to help pay for her medical bills. The pink theme for the ball was derived from her nickname — she’s known to family and friends as the “Pink Princess.”

Upon arriving, she danced with Carlisle Township firefighter Louis Hodge.
