Alma M. Snow

SnowAlmaAlma M. Snow, 89, of Columbia Station, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 14, 2013. Alma was born February 11, 1924 in Cleveland, to the late Victor and Elizabeth Popovitz. She has resided in Lorain County all her life.

Alma was a member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City. She had been a 4-H advisor for the Columbia Busy Beavers for 15 years. Alma had been employed in the deli department at Buehler’s in Medina for many years.

Alma loved being outdoors, whether it was gardening, hunting, fishing or raising sheep on her farm in Columbia Station. She enjoyed nature watching birds, enjoying her flowers or walking various farm land collecting arrowheads.

Alma was extremely devoted to her children and grandchildren. Alma will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune of being a part of her life.

A beloved mother dear friend to her children, Alan (Joanne), Ronald (Mary) and Veronica Hagen; cherished grandmother of Audra, A.J. (Kira), Ronnie (Laura) and David (Jamie); special great grandmother of Anneleise, Cole, Giana, Ethan and Caleb; dear sister of Ethel Brassell.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Arnold Popovitz; and sisters, Olga Rainey and Hilda Verlei.

Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M., Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, with Rev. Thomas Dunphy officiating. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday, December 19,, 2013 at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. Burial will follow at St. Martin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to Friends of Lorain County Fair.
