Man has fractured skull after Wal-Mart fall

LORAIN — A man who fell while shopping at Wal-Mart on Saturday had such a serious skull fracture from the incident that doctors suspect the man might have been assaulted before he fell.

About 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police responded to Mercy Regional Medical Center after a call about a man who had fallen and was injured at Wal-Mart, 4380 Leavitt Road.

Paul Troup, 62, of Wintersville, had fallen while shopping and was transported to the hospital and found to have bleeding in his brain. He was out of sight of security cameras when he fell, according to the police report. However, due to the severity of injuries, doctors questioned whether Troup had been assaulted and if the “knockout game” was involved, according to the report.

The “knockout game” is a growing criminal trend in which the unprovoked perpetrator punches, hits or knocks down an unsuspecting person.

Troup was not conscious when police arrived at the hospital to interview him.

Lorain police Lt. Roger Watkins said there’s little evidence to suggest the knockout game or an assault of any kind, was involved.

“It appears (Troup) was by himself,” Watkins said, adding that Troup may have had a pre-existing medical condition that contributed to his severe injury.

Yes, we all know what the knockout game is about because its been on every TV news show and news papers and was even on The Doctors yesterday.
So now that everyone knows what the knockout game is all about, we can now expect to see more of it!

Yep… case closed, an old guy fell down, move along people!

That was a close one! The cops almost had to sift through the videos that are available of the areas leading to and from the location where the “accident” took place.

But who ya’ gonna believe, a cop or a doctor?
