Nora L. (Hicks) Meredith Swiers

SwiersNoraNora L. (Hicks) Meredith Swiers, 64, of Amherst Township, died Saturday morning, December 14, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic, following complications from a stroke. She was born March 30, 1949.

She attended Firelands Schools and graduated from Firelands High School in 1967. She was the Payroll Account Specialist at the Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Murray Ridge Center) for 22 years.

She enjoyed 28 happy years with David Swiers, whom she married November 25, 1995 on her son Ty’s 18th birthday. She and David met in the fifth grade at Firelands, but after graduation went their separate ways before accidentally meeting each other in the early 1990′s.

Their annual fall clambakes were eagerly anticipated and were well known for lasting until dawn with plenty of food and song. She was also known for her generous spirit. Nora loved traveling with her husband David, visiting Central America, Alaska, the Caribbean and Europe, as well as all over the United States.

Nora is survived by her husband, David Swiers; sons, Ty Meredith, Lon Swiers (Alexis), David Swiers, Jr. (Jackie); daughter, Lisa Glass (Keith); and 10 grandchildren.

Nora was preceded by her parents, Fred and Vera (Tarry) Hicks; and brothers, Phillip C., Jerry and Dennis.
