Bruno Long Dlugosz

OBIT FLAGBruno Long Dlugosz, 82, of Amherst, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013. Bruno was born February 4, 1931 in Lorain, where he was raised until moving to Amherst in 1960, where he had made his home.

Bruno served as a lineman with Ohio Edison/First Energy for 39 years. He was a member of the Amherst Eagles, the American Legion and the Lorain Beekeepers Association. Bruno served for 25 years on the Amherst Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the Merchant Marines working on ships. His hobbies included flying, drawing, and keeping busy in his garden tinkering with his plants and his beehives.

Survivors include his son, Chuck (Liz) Dlugosz of Amherst; daughters, Liz (Keith) Loczi of Grafton and Jeanne (Mike) Suter of Ortonville, Michigan; grandchildren, Matt and Jake Loczi, Hannah and Halie Vilagi and Madelyn and Nolan Suter; brother, Ron Dlugosz of Lorain; and his sister, Jane Simashkevich of Amherst.

Bruno was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Anne Frances Dlugosz (nee Rothgery); brothers, Stanley Tokarz, Alfred, Walter and Joseph Dlugosz; sisters, Josephine Attie and Ann Super; and his parents, Frank and Anna Dlugosz (nee Sroka).

Friends may call Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. at Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
