Juanita Skinner (nee Swindle), 78, of Sheffield Township, died Wednesday afternoon, December 18, 2013, in the Ames Family Hospice House, Westlake, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 11, 1935 in Rome, Georgia, to the late Georgia Savanna (nee Wynn) and Tom Dee Swindle. When Mrs. Skinner was in grade school, she moved from Rome to Lorain, where she lived until 1962 when she made her home in Sheffield Township. She was a homemaker and worked for K-Mart on Fairless Drive in Lorain for two years. Mrs. Skinner enjoyed walking, going to the golf course and beaches. She especially loved being with her grand and great-grandchildren and holiday gatherings and dinners, sharing her famous biscuits and fruitcakes.
Mrs. Skinner is survived by her husband of 60 years, Forrest Edward “Bud” “Clark” Skinner, with whom she went to Hawaii for their 25 anniversary; her sons, Ronald Lee Skinner of Sheffield Township, Dennis James Skinner of North Carolina and Marvin Franklin Skinner of Pickerington, Ohio; her daughter, Virginia Carlene Poulin of Sheffield Township; her brother, C. H. Swindle of Georgia; her sisters, Maxine of Ohio and Charlotte of Georgia; half brother, Joe; half sisters, Gaynell, Bunice, Doreen and Tommie Dee; eight grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 20, 2013, from 4 until 7 P.M., in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday, December 21, 2013, at 11 A.M., with Pastor Rich Henry, of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
