Elyria driver injured in crash

SHARON TWP. — Both drivers were injured — one seriously — in a two-vehicle crash at State and Ridgewood roads Saturday morning.

The crash happened at 10:10 a.m. when a Ford F-450 tow truck, traveling north on State Road, went through a stop sign at Ridgewood Road and struck a Honda Accord eastbound on Ridgewood Road, according to the Medina Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The tow truck went off the right side of the road and struck a stop sign, utility pole and a tree before coming to rest.

The driver, Thomas Tirado III, 23, of Elyria, was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to Akron General Medical Center by Copley Township EMS. Reports said he was not wearing a safety belt.

The driver of the Honda, Stacy A. Moore, 43, of Granger Township, also was transported to Akron General Medical Center by Sharon Township EMS.

A spokesman for the hospital said Tirado was listed in good condition and Moore was in serious condition Saturday evening.
