Yasmin Orourke

LORAIN — A woman who called 911 56 times in 2013 was finally charged Saturday.

Yasmin Orourke, 42, was charged with disrupting public service and disturbing the peace. At 5:45 a.m. Saturday, police went to Orourke’s home at 1058 Oberlin Ave. after she called 911 and made a complaint that dispatchers couldn’t understand. When police arrived, Orourke told them someone had knocked on her door.

Police searched her home and didn’t find anyone inside. However, after checking with 911 dispatchers, police discovered that Orourke had called the emergency 911 service 13 times in the month of December to report unfounded complaints, according to the police report. Orourke’s calls included reporting people knocking on her door, asking for a ride, theft complaints and reporting strangers in her home, according to the report.

When police took her into custody, she began to scream and wouldn’t stop.

Police took Orourke to Lorain County Jail, where she is being held until her court date.
