Sandra L. Poman (nee Hochevar), 70, of Amherst, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 after a six year battle with dementia. Born February 18, 1943 in St. Michael, Pennsylvania, she came to Ohio as a teenager. She graduated from West Tech High School.
For years Sandra worked at JC Penney in Midway Mall in the drapery department. She enjoyed traveling, camping and shopping.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Glenn Thome of Amherst; her son, Michael of Batesville, Indiana and her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Melissa of Ladera Ranch, California; three grandchildren, Emma, Brooke and Nicholas Poman; three step-grandchildren, Ashley, Amy and Ryan; her sister, Veronica Havrilla of Cleveland; and one niece and three nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Sonny” in 2001; and her parents, Leo and Eleanor (nee Majewski) Hochevar.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at a time to be announced.
