Critter Chronicles: Lover-Prison Graduate

Lover-apl

Lover just returned from 12 weeks of training at the Grafton Correctional Institution. He is now a proud Prison Graduate. This is an explanation of the Prison Training Program the dogs go through. Each dog in the program receives approximately 6 hours of training each day that consists of basic command drills such as sit, stay, recall, socialization with other dogs, exercise walking the compound and play time with primary and secondary trainers that work in shifts over a 24-hour period. The trainers are selected using a strict criteria sheet based on their conduct and court record. They follow the Good Canine Citizenship Course. Each dog has to pass a series of training tests in order to graduate from the program. The average time a dog spends in the training program is twelve weeks. You will love Lover! He was surrendered to the shelter because his family was having trouble with their landlord. He’s a smart boy with lots of energy that would be a great addition to an active family. If you’re looking for a running or walking partner Lover is your boy. He has your typical Jack personality. Lover is not fond of small children. It’s best if kids in the family were 10 years of age or older. Jack Russells are intelligent and very loyal pets. Lover is no different and would love to find another home to call his own. Lover was recently adopted and returned through no fault of his own. His owner was handicapped and had a hard time caring for him.

If you have kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting a Friendship dog please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours.
