Floyd R. Chapman, 70, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at his residence Monday, December 23, 2013. He was born in Elyria on November 27, 1943. Mr. Chapman was a long time resident of Lorain County and also previously lived in Colorado for six years and Florida for two years.
He was a 1963 graduate of North Ridgeville High School. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. Mr. Chapman was employed for over 30 years by United Airlines and retired as a supervisor of aircraft fueling. He was a member of North Eaton Christian Church, the TOPS Club in North Ridgeville and of VFW Post #1079 in Elyria. He enjoyed woodworking, word search puzzles and going to movies.
Mr. Chapman is survived by two sons, William (Hope) of Elyria and Robert (Lori) of Lorain; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and by two sisters, Shirley Shupe and Betty Reitenbach, both of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Phyllis (nee Smith) in 2011; his parents, William E. and Marie (nee Chandler) Chapman; sister, Dorothy Susak; and brothers, George, Kenneth, Harold and William Chapman.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11 A.M. at North Eaton Christian Church, 35895 E. Royalton Rd., (Route 82), North Eaton. Reverend Charles Butcher, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township, where members of the Honor Guard from VFW Post #1079 will conduct full military honors.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to North Eaton Christian Church.
