William R. Francis, Jr.

FrancisWilliamOBIT FLAGWilliam R. Francis, Jr., 81, of Elyria Township, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in the emergency room at EMH Regional Medical Center, in Elyria. He was born August 15, 1932 in Findlay, Pennsylvania and had resided in Elyria Township since 2007, moving from Amherst. He had resided in the Lorain area most of his life.

William served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Gross Plumbing as a plumber, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain and the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

He is survived by his children, William R. Francis III of Matthews, North Carolina, Tyra Moore of Scottsdale, Arizona, Sana Mason of Waynesville, Missouri, Ronald A. Francis of Richardson, Texas, Lynelle Robinson of Elyria and Faira Corbett of South Amherst; 10 grandchildren; and brothers, Harry and Earl Francis.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy M. Francis (nee Black) in 2006; parents, William R. Francis, Sr. and Bessie L. Francis (nee Horr); and brothers, George and David Francis.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 27, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M., at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, where a prayer Service will be held Friday, at 7:30 P.M. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 11 A.M., in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Peter Toth, Pastor of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
