GRAFTON — With two teenage boys of her own, Dana Hoffman knew that the Christmas presents her husband found lying by the side of the road on Christmas Day must be important to someone’s child.
“Some kid probably really wanted them,” Hoffman said.
At 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Hoffman said her husband, Dave, was driving through LaGrange when he saw a bag full of packages lying by the side of the Whitney and Diagonal Road intersection. Realizing that the bag contained Christmas presents, Dave Hoffman brought it home in hopes of finding its owner.
On Thursday, Dana Hoffman made it her mission to return the presents to their original owner by putting out Facebook posts, talking to people she knows and placing a lost-and-found ad in the newspaper.
“I will make sure the owner finds (them),” she said. The bag contains open boxes of boys’ athletic clothing, a shirt and a gift card from a grandmother to her grandson, Zach.
“It crushed me because someone is looking for these gifts,” Dana Hoffman said. After searching through the bag for some identification, Hoffman said she realized that all of the presents seemed to be for a pre-teen
“It’s nice stuff,” Hoffman said, adding that with two sons, she knows the gifts in the mystery bag are popular clothes for boys around her sons’ ages.
Hoffman plans to continue looking for the owner of the presents and hopes that anyone with more information will call her at (440) 822-4246.
