Every parent’s worst nightmare appeared to come true in October when day care worker Heather Koon was accused of raping children she supposed to be keeping safe at ABC Kidz Child Care in Elyria.
Koon wasn’t even the original target of the investigation that led to her facing criminal charges. Lorain County Sheriff’s deputies had gone to her Blaine Street home in Elyria seeking evidence that her sex offender fiancé, James Osborne, was living with her rather than at the Oberlin address he had registered with the county.
Deputies seized an iPhone and a laptop and, according to prosecutors, discovered videos of Koon molesting a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old at ABC Kidz. As the investigation wore on, they found more evidence that allegedly shows Koon sexually abusing additional victims.
Those crimes, prosecutors contend, were performed at the behest of Osborne, who also faces charges in the case.
