Timoteo Ocasio, 32, was charged with domestic violence about midnight after he and his girlfriend got into a fight at their house on the 2100 block of Elyria Avenue.
About 11:45 p.m., police responded to the house Ocasio shares with his 34-year-old girlfriend and their infant son.
Ocasio told police he was arguing with his girlfriend when she pulled out a knife and started chasing him with it. The girlfriend told police Ocasio had grabbed her by the throat and shoved her to the floor, after which she pulled out a kitchen knife and told him to leave the house.
Police took Ocasio into custody. As police arrested him, the girlfriend started screaming at the officers, threatening to kill them and herself, according to the police report. She grabbed her infant son and, still threatening to kill herself, began to burn her own arm with a lighter, according to police. She was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center.
