Melinda “Jo” Johnson, 49, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2013 in her home, following a long illness. She was born in Barbourville, Kentucky, coming to Elyria 46 years ago.
Melinda was a graduate of Elyria West High School, class of 1982 and also attended Eastern University in Richmond, Kentucky. Ms. Johnson was a licensed cosmetologist in Elyria.
She was a member of Original Glorious Apostolic Church in Elyria and a former member of Original Church of God in Elyria, where she served in a variety of Ministries along with her mother Freddie Mae Washington. She enjoyed sports, softball, communicating with others and interior decorating.
She will be sadly missed by daughter, Ebony N. Johnson; sons, Ross E. Johnson and Joshua M. Johnson, all of Elyria; two grandchildren; sister, Betty Louise Mayo of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Curtis E. Johnson, Jr. of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Darryl Wayne Johnson of Elyria and Christopher Arlyn Washington of Cleveland; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Freddie Mae Washington.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Original Glorious Apostolic Church, 995 Foster Avenue, Elyria, from 10 A.M. until time of service at 12 Noon. Pastor Doris E. Williams will officiate.
