Avon crime: Explosives found in damaged mailbox

10:54 p.m. Dec. 26 — 37200 block Hatteras Way, explosives were placed in a plastic bottle, which was found inside a damaged mailbox.

Sunday, Dec. 22

  • 1:22 a.m. — 1300 block Nagel Road, Vonda Hunter, 35, arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence.
  • 1:49 a.m. — 2400 block Berkshire Ave., Christmas lights torn down and other decorations damaged overnight.
  • 2:52 a.m. — 32100 block Country Club Drive, a woman reported that her boyfriend threw a cup of water in her face and then threatened to drive her vehicle with their six-week-old son into Lake Erie.

Monday, Dec. 23

  • 5:56 p.m. — 2900 block Stone Wheel Run, Christmas lights were cut from a decoration.
  • 8:02 p.m. Dec. 23 — 34300 block Summerhill Drive, reported suspicious person. A caller reported seeing a person dressed as Santa Claus knocking on doors in the area. Police were unable to locate the person.

Wednesday, Dec. 25

  • 9:08 a.m. — 3300 block Center Road, report of a miniature horse standing in a driveway. Police said it appeared to be a stuffed animal, which the homeowner was disposing.

Thursday, Dec. 26

  • 4:07 p.m. — 37800 block French Creek Road, reported theft of $20 from a resident at Avon Oaks Nursing Home.
  • 8:05 p.m. — 1800 block Moore Road, a woman said her boyfriend smashed her phone with a hammer and threatened her. The man was taken to EMH after attempting to cut his wrist with a knife in the parking lot of Mulligan’s Pub & Grille.
  • 11:20 p.m. — 3590 block Chester Road, reported theft of a wallet from a Wal-Mart bathroom.
