Vermilion crime: Suspect arrested for trespassing at vacant house

Monday, Dec. 16

  • 4:07 a.m. — Intersection of Edgewater Drive and Delamere Road, an officer conducting vacant house checks saw foot prints leading to a vacant house. A suspect was later arrested for criminal damaging and trespassing.
  • 9:47 a.m. — 200 block Aldrich Road, police saw footprints and drag marks near a house and found that someone had stolen an air conditioner.
  • 2:54 p.m. — 200 block Aldrich Road, a neighbor found her air conditioner missing from the back of her house.

Tuesday, Dec. 17

  • 9:39 a.m. — 1200 block Sanford Street, two students at Vermilion High School admitted to taking a drug similar to LSD.

Wednesday, Dec. 18

  • 8:05 a.m. — 4200 block Liberty Ave., a man told police his estranged wife was harassing him at work.
  • 1:25 p.m. — 600 block Main St., a woman said someone hit her car when it was parked on Main Street.

Friday, Dec. 20

  • 12:04 p.m. — Huron Street, a woman told police someone was firing a gun in her rental apartment.
  • 6:31 p.m. — Intersection Mapleview Drive and Sanford Street, a woman said someone tried to pick up her daughter when she was walking home from school.
  • 8:33 p.m. — 4400 block Liberty Ave., a Giant Eagle employee tried to steal $54 worth of merchandise but was stopped and arrested.
  • 8:48 p.m. — 200 block Claremont Road, a man said someone was shining a laser into his son’s bedroom.

Saturday, Dec. 21

  • 12:32 a.m. — 2100 block Vermilion Road, a woman said she had been assaulted at a residence in the town.
  • 10:08 p.m. — 6100 block Liberty Ave., a resident said their house was egged. Police found the car and the two teenagers driving it.
  • 10:46 a.m. — 4600 block Liberty Ave., an employer said his former employee was threatening him. When police told the former employee to stop, he threatened the officer as well.
