Lorain man dies after being crushed between two cars

LORAIN — A Lorain man injured in a freak accident Saturday has died.

Edward Knipper was crushed between two cars in the driveway of his home at 1507 W. Ninth St., at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report. Knipper, 72, was pronounced dead Wednesday at MetroHealth Medical Center, according to a nursing supervisor.

According to the report, Knipper was backing his Mercury Mountaineer out of his driveway. Knipper got out of the Mountaineer without placing it in park, and it began to roll.

When Knipper tried to grab the steering and activate the brake with his right foot, he lost control and collided with a Ford Crown Victoria in his driveway and was pinned between the cars. A neighbor said he found Knipper turning blue and not breathing. Firefighters separated the cars and freed Knipper.
