Closings, cancellations because of weather

The Special Finance Meeting and regular Vermilion City Council meeting, scheduled for tonight, has been canceled because of the level 3 snow emergency in Erie County. The meeting has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday.

Tonight’s Tax Budget Hearing, Organizational Meeting and Work Session has been moved to 6 p.m. at the Board of Education conference room at 301 Liberty St., LaGrange.

First Congregational United Church of Christ and its Food Pantry will be closed on Tuesday.  They will reopen on Wednesday.

Republic Waste is canceling trash pickup in Lorain County for Tuesday. Trash pickup will resume Wednesday, and the pickup schedule will be pushed back a day.

Tonight’s Elyria City Council meeting, where the new members were supposed to be sworn in, has been canceled and rescheduled for 6 p.m. next Monday.

Grand jurors for the Lorain County Common Pleas Court are asked NOT to report for duty on Tuesday. Jurors should report on Wednesday as scheduled.

ThistleDown Racino will remain open with a reduced staff. All dining options at ThistleDown will be closed until further notice. 

The Elyria Parks and Recreation Department is canceling all of its programs at all of its facilities for Monday and Tuesday because of the weather.

The Huntington Township Trustees meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight, has been canceled because of no heat in the building.

All LCCC campuses are open Monday and Tuesday, but some activities that occur on the LCCC campus are canceled:

  • ABLE/GED classes have been canceled Monday.
  • Ashland University classes have been canceled Monday and Tuesday.
  • The University of Toledo classes have been canceled Monday.
  • All LCCC campuses will remain open.
