Elyria pizza driver robbed at gunpoint

ELYRIA — A pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint Friday night as he made deliveries in the Ford Road area.

Police said a 32-year-old Elyria man working for Marco’s Pizza told them the robbery occurred in the 100 block of Hodge Court about 10:20 p.m. after he made a couple of pizza deliveries to Wilkes Villa residents and a residence on Bohannon Court.

As the man walked back to his vehicle after dropping off a pizza to a Hodge Court apartment, he was approached by a man who shoved a semi-automatic handgun at the driver’s stomach and demanded all of his money.

The driver handed over a money bag containing about $50, after which the robber shoved the gun harder into the driver’s stomach and threatened to shoot him unless he handed over all of the money the deliveryman had, according to police.

After taking money from the driver’s pocket, the bandit ran off. Police were unable to find him.

The hold-up man was said to be black, 20 to 30 years of age and wearing dark clothing and a dark hat.

The delivery driver was not injured, police said.
