Donald Lee Johnson, Sr., 45, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Ames Hospice of Westlake, following a short illness. He was born in Ward Alabama, coming to Elyria 38 years ago from New York.
Mr. Johnson was a machine operator for the Diamond Product Company of Elyria for 15 years and also Bradley Bay Nursing Home of Westlake.
He enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, going rummaging with his two sisters, collecting CD’s and working out at the gym.
He is survived by his daughters, Ashley Nolf of Elyria, Devonna Johnson of Columbus, Kayla Nolf of Elyria; sons, Michael Johnson of Elyria and Donald Johnson, Jr. of Elyria, granddaughter, Miangle Bryant of Columbus; sisters, Joanna L. Wright, Christine Wingo, both of Elyria; brothers, Willie Taylor, Joe Johnson, David Johnson, Gregory (Sherry) Johnson, all of Elyria; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley and Roseanna Johnson; paternal grandparent, Pearlene Johnson.
Friends may call Friday, January 10, 2014, in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, 127 West Bridge Street, Elyria, from 10 A.M., until the time of service at 11 A.M. Reverend Jeffery Capers, Pastor of New Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Lorain, will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
