Georgetta A. Buckey, 97, of Cave Creek, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2014, following a short illness. Georgetta was born on November 6, 1916 in Detroit Michigan. She lived in Avon Lake for most of her adult life, before relocating to Arizona in 2005.
Georgetta was the oldest of seven children born to John and Jane McClelland. She graduated from Mount Sinai Hospital for Nursing. She worked at Oberlin Hospital as a Registered Nurse and Bayview Hospital as Director of Nursing, before retiring from St. John West Shore Hospital in 1983. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, reading and spending time with her church family, where she served in the Steven Ministry.
Georgetta was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jane; her husband, Paul; her sisters, Mary and Annetta; and brother, William.
She is survived by sisters, Dorothy and Nellie; and brother, Harry. Georgetta was the proud mother of Michael (Rae) and Susan Mahon (Larry); wonderful grandmother to Amy Huber (Kenneth), Ronald Mahon, Timothy Mahon (Kristin) and Courtney Buckey and Shawn Burden; the loving great-grandmother to Alane, Logan, Ryan and Samantha.
Arrangements are being handled by Messinger Mortuaries in Scottsdale, Arizona. Interment will be at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale, Arizona.
