Sandra L. Poman (nee Hochevar), 70, of Amherst, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, after a six year battle with dementia. Born February 18, 1943 in St. Michael, Pennsylvania, she came to Ohio as a teenager. She graduated from West Tech High School.
For years Sandra worked at JC Penney in Midway Mall in the drapery department. She enjoyed traveling, camping and shopping.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Glenn Thome, of Amherst; her son, Michael, of Batesville, Indiana, and her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Melissa, of Ladera Ranch, California; three grandchildren, Emma, Brooke and Nicholas Poman; three step-grandchildren, Ashley, Amy and Ryan; her sister, Veronica Havrilla, of Cleveland; and one niece and three nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Sonny”, in 2001; and her parents, Leo and Eleanor (nee Majewski) Hochevar.
The family invites friends to join them at a memorial service Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 12:30 P.M., in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
