Theodore Lynn, 94 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Amherst Manor Nursing Home, following a brief illness. He was born April 19, 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was raised. As a young man, Theodore came to Ohio and made his home in Amherst for the majority of his life.
He was employed at Nordson Corporation in Amherst for 41 years, retiring in 1984 as a production planner. Theodore was a member of the Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Cleveland Indians and Browns. His hobbies included bowling, baseball, football and his fishing trips.
Survivors include his son, Dale R. Lynn (Dana Alexander) of Alliance; his daughters, Kathy A. (Bob) Kreeger of Amherst, Debra J. (Jim) Wiegand of North Wales, Pennsylvania, Rebecca Lynn Chrapczynski of Lorain; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Redenshek, Michael (Jenna) Kreeger, Michael McHale, Ryan, Shawn and Benjamin Chrapczynski; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Christian and Luke Redenshek, Bryson and Brayden Kreeger.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lucille Mae Lynn (nee Krieg) on March 30, 2006; his brother, Nate, Pat and Heckles Lynn; and his parents, Harry and Bessy Lynn (nee Levine).
Friends may call Friday, January 10, 2014, from 6 until 8 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 10:30 A.M., at the funeral home. The Reverend Attila Szemesi, Pastor of Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
