Thaer Mustafa

Thaer Mustafa

ELYRIA — Thaer Mustafa, the operator of IMT Wireless and former operator of Shopway, pleaded not guilty to a charge accusing him of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Mustafa was arraigned Thursday in Lorain County Court of Common Pleas for charges related to illegal gambling, counterfeit sales and drug trafficking at IMT Wireless, a business he operated on Broad Street.

IMT Wireless was raided by police Dec. 5, and Mustafa was charged with counterfeiting, gambling, three counts of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mustafa is the former operator of Shopway, which was shuttered by a county judge who declared the business a nuisance. Mustafa also is facing charges of selling spice, a synthetic form of marijuana, at that business.

Police also accused Mustafa, while at Shopway, of food stamp fraud at the business while it was open.

A pre-trial hearing for Mustafa is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 27 before Common Pleas Judge John Miraldi.

Of course he did. Because he is waiting for the Plea Deal so he wouldn’t have to do any time in jail.

  • It has to stop

He didn’t learn from his first business venture. Don’t give him a 3rd chance to open up an illegal business in Lorain County. Keep up the good work EPD.
