Ralph Gunter, 80, of Columbia Station, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at Metro Health Cleveland, with his family by his side. He was born April 7, 1933 in Marshall, North Carolina, to Millard and Dora (nee Gosnell) Gunter and has lived in Columbia Station for the past 38 years, moving from Cleveland.
He was a member of Christian Unity Church in Grafton. Ralph was very active in his church serving as trustee for many years. He enjoyed raising cattle and crops on his farm in Columbia Station. Ralph has been noted for the beautiful vegetable and flower gardens he raised, also. Ralph was a retired truck driver for Consolidated Freight Co. for many years. His greatest pride was his family.
He is survived by his sons, Clayton (Pat) of Brooklyn, Gerald (Pat) of Berea and Jeffry of Columbia Station; daughter, Karen (Dennis) Galdun of Valley City; grandchildren, Bryan, Catherine, Amanda, Kevin, Kiley, Jessica, Shannon and Dennis R.; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and sister, Fannie Davis of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sue, of 59 years, on April 1, 2013; two brothers, Paul and Floyd Gunter
Family will receive friends Monday, January 13, 2014 from 6 to 9 P.M. at the Christian Unity Church, 36353 Capel Road, Grafton, where the funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Tuesday, January 14, 2014, with the Reverend Denver Daniel, presiding. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place in Columbia Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City.
