Clarence B. “Casey” Prechtel, 95, of Elyria, died Friday, January 10, 2014. He was born November 11, 1918 in North Ridgeville, had lived 39 years in Elyria and several years in Vermilion, before becoming a permanent resident of Tarpon Springs, Florida, returning to Elyria in 2013.
For 60 years, Casey was an operating engineer and a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 in Cleveland. He had traveled extensively throughout the United States and while in Florida enjoyed spending time at the beach and feeding the squirrels.
Casey is survived by a son, Wayne R. (Mary Jo) Prechtel of Elyria; daughter, Beverly A. Prechtel of Oberlin; daughter-in-law, Judi Prechtel of LaGrange; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Marie in 1976 and Mildred in 2002; son, Allen E. Prechtel; great granddaughter, Abigail Prechtel; parents, Willis and Bertha Prechtel; brothers, Kenneth and Ralph Prechtel; and sisters, Eleanor Roe and Ruby Dean.
A private graveside service will be Monday, January 13, 2014 at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
