ELYRIA – No one was injured after a driver lost control of his car this afternoon and rammed it into a house on Lake Avenue.

The driver, who police have not yet identified, was driving southbound on Lake Avenue at 1 p.m. Monday when he struck a snow bank on the right side of the roadway. He overcorrected, drove off the left side of the road and hit the back of a house at 6219 Lake Ave., according to Lorain County Sheriff Deputy John Steenstra.

A woman and her 1-year-old granddaughter were playing inside the house about 10 feet from where the car struck, Steenstra said. Neither were injured.

The driver passed field sobriety tests. There were two occupants in his vehicle, a young boy and another man. No one in the car was injured.

Officers are still deciding if the driver will be charged.
