Laddie G. Browand, 90, of Elyria, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at his daughter’s home in Inverness, Florida, following a brief illness. He was born February 7, 1923 in Medina and was a lifelong Elyria resident.
Laddie worked at the Ridge Tool Company in Elyria as a job setter/assembler for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He was a WWII Army veteran, a member of V.F.W. Post 1079, served many years as a Auxiliary Lorain County Deputy Sheriff, was a former Trustee at the Elyria Eagles Club and was a licensed pilot.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Shuart of Inverness, Florida, Pam Busch of Lorain and Debbie Guitar of Wellington; sons, Larry Browand of LaGrange, Randy Boesel of Inverness, Florida and Jon Boesel of Port Clinton; grandchildren, Christopher Shuart, Cristy Hamblen and Brian Boesel; five great grandchildren; sisters, Leverne Browand of Ocala, Florida and Eloise Squires of Litchfield; brothers, Wilbur Browand of Wellington and Alan Browand of Redding, California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie in 2010; granddaughter, Kelly Conrath in 2004; sisters, Miriam Brasee and Lenore.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 4 to 6 P.M. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where members of the V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors.
