Frank Theodore “Ted” Price, Jr., 71, of Avon Lake, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Tuesday, January 14, 2014. He was born July 12, 1942 in Albany, New York.
Ted served with the U.S. Navy Submarine Service on the U.S.S. Triton SSRN/SNN 586. He started Triton Transport Service Inc. in 1982, which became the leader in intermodal transportation. Ted served on numerous transportation boards and was a leader and founder of IANA. He belonged to the Holland Society and was a member of U.S. Submarine Veterans; their home boat is the U.S.S. Cod. Ted was also philanthropic and will be dearly missed by many. He was an avid golfer and reader. Ted wintered in Florida and traveled around the world with his wife. He also loved aviation.
He is survived by his family, Marsha M. (nee Eichenlaub), his wife of 14 years; three daughters, Sharon M. Goode (Keith) of Avon Lake, Linda L. Thompson of Elyria, Kathleen M. Frey of Avon; four sons, Frank T. Price III (Wendy) of North Ridgeville, Kyle T. McDonnell (Becky) of Wellington, Ryan P. McDonnell of Marysville, Thomas J. McDonnell (Jodi) of Lakeville; additional survivors include two sisters, Barbara Lape (Joseph) of Rosemount, Minnesota, Katherine Wright (Sidney) of Conroe, Texas; four brothers, Richard (Linda) of Schoharie, New York, Thomas (Polly) of Florence, South Carolina, William (Maureen) of Schoharie, New York, David (Susan) of Hagaman, New York; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Ted was preceded in death by his father, Frank Theodore Price, Sr. in 1995; and his mother, Frances Palmer (nee Baker) Price in 1968.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M., Friday, January 17, 2014 and from 10 to 11 A.M., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, (440) 322-4626, where funeral services will be at 11 A.M., Saturday, January 18, 2014. V.F.W. Post #1079 will provide full military honors following services at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
