Lorain man reports robbery, assault

LORAIN — A man who was walking alone at night told police he was harassed and then beaten by several men who stole his money and left the scene.

Philip Voschetti told police he was walking in an alley near West Ninth Street and Broadway about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when a black two-door vehicle pulled up and several men got out, according to the police report.

Voschetti told police the men began harassing him, asking him for money as he walked.

When Voschetti said he didn’t have any money, one of the men hit him in the head. Voschetti was hit a few more times before falling on the ground, where the men kicked and punched him, he told police.

One of the men stole $130 from Voschetti’s pocket before they left.

Voschetti told police he didn’t get a clear look at the men, but police believe the incident may have been caught on security cameras.

Though police couldn’t see any injuries on Voschetti, he was taken to Mercy Regional Hospital for rib and chest pain.
