Police arrest Elyria robbery suspect

ELYRIA — An Elyria woman accused of a robbery and attempted robbery in less than 24 hours faces charges.

Lindsey Harrison is accused of robbing the Circle K, 402 E. Broad St., about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and attempting to rob Jeanie’s Party Cakes & Supplies, 614 Prospect St., about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday. Harrison has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.

In both incidents, the robber brandished a knife, but no one was hurt. In the Wednesday incident, police spokesman Capt. Chris Costantino said a woman entered Jeanie’s and asked about making a purchase.

She then pulled a knife on the owner and demanded money. When another customer entered the store, the woman fled before receiving any money, police said.

Costantino said Harrison was arrested about 7 p.m. at her home in the 800 block of Case Avenue, about three-quarters of a mile from Jeanie’s. Harrison, 28, was being held without bond at the Lorain County Jail Wednesday night and was due in Elyria Municipal Court today.

Elyria police officers posted a surveillance video image of a woman suspect on the department’s Facebook page after the Circle K robbery which Costantino said generated a tip that led to the arrest.

“It’s a strong partnership between the community and the police,” he said. “Getting this information certainly was instrumental to putting this all together.”
