Joan Lee “Boop” Stock (nee Kalo), 62, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at The Cleveland Clinic, following a long illness. She was born May 26, 1951 in Elyria and was a lifelong resident.
Joan Lee was a 1969 Elyria High School graduate. She was a hard and dedicated worker; as a teen she worked as a nurse’s aide at Elyria Memorial Hospital, Joan Lee also worked at the Chronicle Telegram as a mailroom foreman and later in the circulation department. Her latest employer was Sheffield Lake School System as an administrative assistant.
Joan Lee was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, daughter and sister. She was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing, sewing and crafts. She also enjoyed travel, mini trips to Amish country, gardening that she learned from her father. Joan Lee was a member of the Fiesta Dinnerware community and attended many HLCCC Conferences.
Survivors include a daughter, Heather Ives of Elyria; son, Paul Stock (Hillary) of Elyria; additional survivors include two grandchildren, Trevor and Korbi Stock; her mother, Vivian R. Kalo (nee Dumke) of Elyria; sister, Laura Knowles (David) of Sheffield Village; two brothers, Joseph Kalo and Daniel Kalo (Judy), both of Elyria.
Joan Lee was preceded in death by her father, Joseph S. Kalo.
A Celebration of Joan Lee’s life will be held at 5 P.M., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at The Fairchild Chapel, 50 W. Lorain, Oberlin, OH 44074, where the family will receive friends following services until 7 P.M. Burial will be private.
Memorial Contributions in Joan Lee’s memory can be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
