Sandra “Sandy” L. Catalusci (nee Smith), 65, of North Ridgeville, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at her residence, following a battle with cancer. She was born July 21, 1948 in Cleveland.
Sandy was a 1966 graduate of Lakewood High School. She had been a resident of North Ridgeville for over 20 years. Sandy was employed by IATSE Local #883 as a theatrical wardrobe worker for 22 years and she retired in 1998. She was a member of Rock Point Church in Westlake. When her children were young, Sandy was active with 4H where she was an advisor with the Clover Buds and she was a Girl Scout Leader. She was an excellent seamstress and used her skills extensively in her profession. She also enjoyed baking, camping and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Louis Catalusci; three daughters, Beth Patterson (John) of Westlake, Teresa Catalusci of North Ridgeville and Mary Kanary (Kyle) of Sarasota, Florida; one son, Louis Catalusci, Jr. (Mary) of North Ridgeville; one son-in-law, Michael Martin (Jennifer) of North Olmsted; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Bridget, Colin, Kayla, Lou, Isabella and Mackenzie; three sisters, Roberta Robertson (Larry) of North Olmsted, Deborah Mallin (Joe) of Georgia and Jaculyn Filmer of Georgia; and by three brothers, Thomas Smith of Willoughby, Mark Filmer (Karen) of Litchfield and Scott Filmer of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Valerie Martin in 2007; her father, Harry L. Smith; her mother, Bernice Filmer (nee Polenz); and by her step father, Charles Filmer.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Rock Point Church, 27070 Detroit Rd., Westlake (parking and entrance are in the back of the building). Pastor Dan Anthony will officiate. Burial will be at Lakewood Park Cemetery in Rocky River.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to either Rock Point Church or to The Gathering Place.
