Charles L. Neel, 81, of North Ridgeville, went to his eternal home surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 20, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He was born on October 4, 1932 in Clintwood, Virginia, and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 55 years
Charles was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and worked as a Millwright for the Ford Motor Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1997.
He enjoyed every aspect of his life. He loved bowling, golfing, biking, hunting and working in his yard. More recently, Charles could be found spending his time with family and cheering on the Cleveland Indians or local high school football teams.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Iva Lena (nee Madden); son, Jefferson (Javonna) Neel of Ypsilanti, Michigan; daughters, Kimberely (David) Osmialowski of Lexington, South Carolina, Mel (David) Surrena of Columbus, and Jennifer (Michael) Bartone of Elyria; grandchildren, Selena, Monique and Cera Osmialowski, Brandon and Lindsey Neel and Taylor and Noah Bartone; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Copley and Jackie Minion, both of Clintwood, Virginia; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Emma (nee Yates) Neel; brother Thomas Neel; sisters Dorothy Milan and Maude Dotson.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville and once again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, 38550 Chestnut Ridge Rd, Elyria 44035 (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Pastor Darrell Myers will officiate. Interment with Military Honors at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
