Elyria blotter: Man arrested after allegedly punching wife in head

10:33 a.m. Jan. 22 — 400 block Amber Dr., David Smith, 24, was charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest after he allegedly punched his wife in the head multiple times.

Monday, Jan. 20

  • 1 p.m. — 700 block West River Road N., a man arrived home after two days away and noticed a rear window broken out and that someone had rummaged through his home.

Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • 8 p.m. — 300 block Lowell St., a man who left his car parked on his property returned to the car to find the windows broken, tires slashed and some electronics taken from the vehicle.

Wednesday, Jan. 22

  • 9:30 a.m. — 1100 block Garden St., Michael Hughes, 36, was charged with weapons under disability and aggravated menacing after a caller said she was worried for her friend who was in the house with Hughes.
  • 2:10 p.m. — 100 block Monticello Circle, a man said his roommate’s friend used his car without asking.
  • 8:25 p.m. — 500 block Broad St., Timothy Henderson, 54, was charged with drug abuse instruments after police allegedly found a syringe in his car. Henderson told police “it was probably heroin” in the syringe according to the report.
