OBIT FLAGRieckRobertRobert K. Rieck, 81, of Westlake formerly of Grafton, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Westbay Care and Rehabilitation Center in Westlake, following a long illness. He was born December 26, 1932 in Cleveland.

Robert served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He had worked at Stewart Appliance as a salesman, following retirement he worked at Convenient Food Mart on Chestnut Ridge Rd.

Robert was a member of Oberlin Masonic Lodge #380 where he was Past Master, Oberlin Royal Arch Mason #219, El Ray Grotto where he was a Past Monarch, and North Ridgeville VFW Post #9871. Robert enjoyed reading and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara J. (nee Sherman); daughter, Irene M. Henderson of Rocky River; son, Robert R. Rieck III of Grafton; additional survivors include two grandchildren, Denise Raynes (David) of Rocky River, Cindi Badger (Jason) of California; four great grandchildren, Katrina, Brianna, Lily, Jason II; and a brother, Ronald Rieck (Nancy) of Rocky River.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. and Helen (nee Bartok) Rieck; and two brothers, Roger and Richard Rieck.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 5 P.M., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, (440) 322-4626, where Masonic Lodge Services will be at 5 P.M. immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Burial will be private at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon with V.F.W. Post #9871 providing full military honors.
