Warming shelter to open Sunday in Elyria

ELYRIA – Due to the anticipated extremely cold temperatures, starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Elyria and its community partners will again open a warming center and overnight shelter at St. Mary Parish located at 320 Middle Ave.

The shelter will stay open until at least 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The shelter will provide food and blankets. The Elyria Police Department will provide security and the Elyria Health Department will provide medical care, if needed.

During the four-day period the shelter will be operations weather forecast call for below zero temperatures with much colder wind chill factors.

Guests should enter the Parish Hall off St. Mary’s Way, which is between Third and Fourth streets.
